Lemonade for a cure: the sweetness of childhood in service of science

Small gestures can spark big transformations. For the third year in a row, the Lemonade for a Cure project has shown how children’s solidarity can power science.

Kennedy, just 7 years old, set up her lemonade stand several times over the summer. With the support of her family and community, she didn’t just reach her $1,000 goal—she doubled it.

All donations went to the MBI, supporting research led by Dr. Packer against medulloblastoma—the most common and aggressive childhood brain tumor.

More than numbers, this initiative symbolizes hope: children giving up summer playtime to help other children in treatment. A simple act that proves science and solidarity can walk hand in hand.

After all, the cure for childhood cancer may come from large donations—but sometimes it begins with a simple summer refreshment. In both cases, love and purpose are at the heart.
