September 25, 2026 <\/strong><\/span><strong>&#8211; <\/strong>The Medulloblastoma Initiative (MBI) today announced $2.2 million in new research funding, its latest investment in a coordinated portfolio of programs focused on developing new treatments for medulloblastoma, the most common malignant brain tumor in children.<\/p><p>The new funding builds on $3.4 million awarded in MBI&#8217;s previous funding round, bringing the combined investment across the organization&#8217;s two most recent rounds to $5.6 million. Since its founding 5 years ago, MBI has invested approximately $15 million in medulloblastoma research, accelerating the pace of scientific discovery and its translation to clinical treatment.<\/p><p>The investments are part of MBI&#8217;s broader research network led by <span style=\"color: #003366; font-size: 18px;\"><strong>Dr. Roger J. Packer<\/strong><\/span>, one of the world&#8217;s leading pediatric neuro-oncologists, who directs the Brain Tumor Institute at Children&#8217;s National in Washington, D.C. MBI brings together 16 world-class laboratories across the United States, Canada and Germany around a shared scientific strategy. Rather than funding isolated projects, MBI has built a coordinated bench-to-bedside pipeline that identifies and validates new targets, translates promising discoveries into therapies, advances treatments through regulatory development and supports clinical trials.<\/p><p>The model is based on a simple principle: when research funding is scarce, every dollar must be deployed strategically and with a clear path toward impact. MBI brings leading scientists together around common priorities. It matches scientific questions with teams best positioned to address them, reduces unnecessary duplication and promotes collaboration and data sharing across institutions.<\/p><p>MBI places particular emphasis on promising science that has moved beyond early discovery but needs focused funding and coordination to reach the clinic.
