Gold September: for a cure for childhood cancer

Gold September is the global awareness month for childhood cancer. Gold represents the value of children and reminds us of the importance of early diagnosis—which increases survival chances and allows for less aggressive treatments

As pediatric oncologist Dr. Juliana Dal Ponte Bitencourt explains, “Early diagnosis enables the disease to be detected at initial stages, increasing the chances of cure and allowing for less aggressive treatments.

This message is critical: many symptoms can be mistaken for common childhood illnesses—persistent fever, fatigue, morning vomiting, loss of balance, or unexplained bruising. Recognizing these signs can save a life.

Among these tumors, medulloblastoma is the most common brain cancer in children, accounting for 20% of cases. While rare, its impact is devastating—and research funding is still limited.

MBI was born to face this challenge. In just three years, it has built a network of 14 laboratories and enabled two groundbreaking clinical trials.

This month, you too can be part of the change: donate, share, talk about it, or launch your own fundraiser.

We believe that Every Child Deserves a Future.
